Becky’s Kids is gearing up for its back-to-school shopping trip for Izard County foster children. On Thursday, July 16, Becky’s Kids will take the children to Jonesboro on a one day shopping trip for new backpacks, school supplies and new clothes and shoes for the upcoming school year.
Becky’s Kids is in need of donations to help fund the trip. The total cost for one child is $250 with donations of all sizes welcomed and appreciated.
With the needs of foster children growing every day, Jessica Eldred, the founder of Becky’s Kids sees this as one way for the community to make a difference. She said, “Izard County has always been so supportive of our efforts, and we can’t thank each donor and volunteer enough. Anyone who takes the opportunity to go with us or gives financially will walk away knowing that on that day they made a tremendous difference in a child’s life, and that is what Becky’s Kids is all about.”
This is the organizations fifth back-to-school trip, and Eldred says the event is something the kids get very excited about. “Of course, they love getting to pick out their own shoes and clothes. Not only is it fun, but it brings dignity to the kids. Most importantly though, the trip shows the children there are people who love and care about them.”
Anyone interested in getting involved with the back-to-school shopping trip or learning more about Becky’s Kids can contact Jessica Eldred at 479-586-3210 or Ann Moser at 870-291-7555. The organization encourages individuals to “like” Becky’s Kids page on Facebook to keep up with all the organizations happenings.
