The Turkey – Youth Hunt will be held Saturday, April 11 to Sunday, April 12 this year. Hunters, ages six to fifteen, can hunt from 30 minutes before sunrise until 30 minutes after sunset.
The statewide bag limit is two adult gobblers or bearded hens.
For zones: 1; 2; 3; 4; 4A; 4B; 5; 5A; 5B; 6; 7; 7A; 8; 9; 9A; 10; 17.
Hunters must follow the zone bag limits of the zones in which they hunt.
Hunters who are six to fifteen years old may harvest one jake as part of their two-bird limit during the season.
Including the youth hunt.
No more than one turkey may be taken per day.
Only hunters six to fifteen years old may hunt turkeys during the special youth turkey hunt.
Youths who have completed hunter education must be accompanied by an adult mentor who is 18 or older.
Youths who have not completed hunter education must be under the direct supervision of an adult mentor who is 21 or older.
Prepare for your hunt
– Educate yourself about the game you will be hunting and its environment.
– Obtain the most current state regulations.
– Buy appropriate clothing and gear for the environment.
– Secure lease arrangements and permits (dogs and horses may require a veterinarian’s certificate or a current vaccination record).
– Visit the site in the off-season to prepare blinds and cabin facilities.
– Sight-in rifles, handguns, and bows; pattern shotguns.
– Sharpen your skills at the shooting range.
– Pack extra firearms, scopes, bow strings, etc.
