The Salem Zeta Omicron Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi will conduct the Annual Valentine Pageant Tuesday, January 27 right before the Salem-Sloan Hendrix Basketball games.
Candidates for Mr. and Miss Valentine are from grades seventh through 12 at Salem High School. The Little Miss and Little Mr. contestants are from grades kindergarten through sixth grade at the Salem Elementary School.
Elementary candidates are: Ms. Simers’ Kindergarten – Kylie Harber and Keaton Zeigler, Ms. Julie’s Kindergarten Jailyn Strong and Wesley Oliver, Ms. Hurtt’s Kindergarten – Kenly Brown and Caleb Smith, Ms. Barker’s First Grade – Keely Ward and Landon McEntire, Ms. Henley’s First Grade – Shaylee Goodson and Richard Smith, Ms. Walling’s First Grade – Lydia Smith and Whitt Bishop, Ms. Aldridge’s First Grade – Roxie Spears and Jackson Taylor, Ms. Watson’s 2nd Grade – Montana Franks and Brant Cochran, Ms. Long’s Second Grade – Olivia Smith and Owen Guffey, Ms. Hyslip’s Second Grade – Hannah Hutson and Braden Morris, Ms. Gaskin’s Third Grade – Madeline Keen and Hunter Sizemore, Ms. Edward’s Third Grade – Angelei Erwin and Spencer Jackson, Ms. Manes’ Third Grade – Katie Fish and Hunter Collier, Ms. Cotter’s Fourth Grade – Adrianna Bagwell and Dryver Springstun, Ms. Fowler’s Fourth Grade – Greenly Hall and Hank Guiltner, Mrs. Boyd’s Fourth Grade – Madalyn Miller and Matthew Guffey, Ms. Turnbough’s Fifth Grade – Yuki Beller and Brady Boles, Ms. Maguffee’s Fifth Grade – Cassidy Walling and Brice Langston, Ms. Walling’s Fifth Grade – Kelsey Pearson and Owen Jones, Ms. Cooper’s Sixth Grade – Brianna Lundry and Tommy Bassham, Mr. Cone’s Sixth Grade – Brittney Worsham and Darius Brown, and Ms. Wiseman’s Sixth Grade – McKenzie Bontrager and Cord McCullough. Mr. and Miss Valentine candidates are: Seventh Grade – Kendalee Stansbury and Mark Hancock; Eighth Grade – Dagni Hall and Chase Himshoot; Ninth Grade – Kaylea Walling and Braden Love; Tenth Grade – Melissa Palumbo and Justin Pearson, 11th Grade –Callie Marsh and Mason Kinder; and 12th Grade – Libbie Watkins and John Smith.
Votes for contestants are one penny each. Cans for votes are at the Town and Country Super Market on Church Street in Salem. Voting will end at 4 p.m. on Monday, January 26 and no votes will be accepted after that date.
All proceeds from the pageant will be used by Beta Sigma Phi for community service projects.

The Salem Band Boosters will be having their annual Fall Festival on Saturday, October 25 at Salem Elementary. The Fall Festival will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. featuring bingo and pictures with Gary Greyhound. New games will also be played this year. Proceeds go to the Salem Band students.

Designed for boys in the first through sixth grades and their families, Cub Scouting combines outdoor activities, sports, academics, and more in a fun and exciting program that helps families teach character values in family fun activities.
The Boy Scouts of America is composed of more than 1.27 million volunteers working together for the sole purpose of helping its more than three million youth succeed in life. Local Scouting Units are charted by community partners on a local level to deliver the program to young people and families. Parents of the youth are the primary volunteer base for those programs.
