The ladies from Beta Sigma Phi are selling T-shirts to raise scholarship money for a fallen Police Officer’s child. They will be selling T-shirts beginning July 4 and will sell them through Christmas. If you would like to get a T-shirt to show your support you can contact one of the ladies from Beta Sigma Phi. You can also call Mickey Spangler at 870-670-4447.The shirts sell for $15 up to XL; shirts size 2X and up are $20. The deputies stopped by the sorority’s booth at Dogwood Days to show their support. The Beta Sigma Phi ladies thank them and Izard County Judge Eric Smith for their support of this project. The Salem Zeta Omicron Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi will conduct the Annual Valentine Pageant Tuesday, January 27 right before the Salem-Sloan Hendrix Basketball games.
Candidates for Mr. and Miss Valentine are from grades seventh through 12 at Salem High School. The Little Miss and Little Mr. contestants are from grades kindergarten through sixth grade at the Salem Elementary School.

Mr. and Miss Valentine candidates are: Seventh Grade – Kendalee Stansbury and Mark Hancock; Eighth Grade – Dagni Hall and Chase Himshoot; Ninth Grade – Kaylea Walling and Braden Love; Tenth Grade – Melissa Palumbo and Justin Pearson, 11th Grade –Callie Marsh and Mason Kinder; and 12th Grade – Libbie Watkins and John Smith.
Votes for contestants are one penny each. Cans for votes are at the Town and Country Super Market on Church Street in Salem. Voting will end at 4 p.m. on Monday, January 26 and no votes will be accepted after that date.
All proceeds from the pageant will be used by Beta Sigma Phi for community service projects.
