oldmainThe Old Main schoolhouse in Salem will be the setting for an old-fashioned chili supper, pie auction, talent show, and candidate meet and greet on Saturday, October 4, at 5 p.m. sponsored by the Fulton County Heritage Foundation.
The general public is invited to participate in the events and to visit with candidates for local and state office. There is no charge for the chili supper; however, donations will be accepted to benefit the Old Main restoration project. Old Main is located at the intersection of Oak and North Streets in downtown Salem.
Attendees will have an additional opportunity to support Old Main by bidding on delicious pies prepared by foundation members and friends of Old Main.
The foundation expects to have more than 50 pies available for auction that evening.
Singers, musicians, dancers and variety act participants are invited to participate in the talent show, which will follow the pie auction.
Volunteers with the Fulton County Heritage Foundation have worked during the past year to renovate Old Main for use as a center for community activities such as Terrific Tuesdays, a summer meals program for children in Salem and the surrounding area. Other community activities are planned in the coming months.
